Vodafone launching Apple's iconic iPhone 3GS in India

The second largest mobile phone operator of India, Vodafone Essar, is going to start selling 3G iconic iPhone of Apple. Vodafone announced this offer after its rival operator, Bharti Airtel, which is the largest cellular service provider of the country. Last week, Bharti Airtel has also made similar announcement.


Now the competition between these companies is entering in new field, as they were competing only tariffs so far. Therefore pricing are also being competitive as these both operators are offering different prices for their mobile schemes and special packages.


On Friday, 26 March, Vodafone Essar has announced that it is going to launch and start selling Apple’s most awaited iconic 3G iPhone in India. As cellular companies are competing to pack the iPhone 3GS with their packaged schemes, Indian government is also gearing up to cellular companies to auction 3G iPhones. Chief Marketing Officer Kumar Ramanathan stated that they are delighted by offering the revolutionary iPhone 3GS with their flexible tariff plans in India.


The 3GS iPhone is fastest and powerful iPhone yet. This phone comes with a 3 megapixel autofocus camera and video recording. This also has features of hands free control over voice, also offers facility to access the Apple’s App store. This has more than 1 lakh applications like games, social networking etc. At the beginning, Vodafone priced this phone at Rs. 29,500 onwards. Now these are ranging from Rs. 29,500 to Rs. 47,500.


Vodafone is offering many different and attractive plans to its customers. Now two post paid plans are being offered with iPhone 3GS by Vodafone for its iPhone customers. As these iPhone 3GS are available in three different memory sizes, the offers also differ according to their memory. Vodafone is offering three new plans with iPhone.


One is prepaid and of Rs.100 and other two are postpaid plans with Rs.799 and Rs.999 as monthly rental respectively. Plan 799 is offering talk time of Rs.249 and free uses upto 250 MB data, whereas plan 999 is offering the talk time of Rs. 249 and up to 600 MB free data uses.


These iPhone 3GS are also available in Mumbai, Maharashtra and Madhyapradesh at Rs. 33,500 (8 GB), Rs. 40,500 (16 GB) and Rs. 47,500 respectively. Same handset would be available for Rs. 29,500 (8 GB), Rs. 35,500 (16 GB) and Rs. 41,500 for other regions. As this iPhone 3GS is most powerful phone of Apple till date and far better from the other phones in terms of performance and speed, the 3G bandwidth is going to allow its commercial use with broadband services from September, 2010 in India.
