Samsung Nexus S leaked images and specs, Gingerbread's flagship model

Ever since we heard rumors about Google gearing to release Gingerbread we have been anticipating that the updated Android v2.3 will come to Nexus Two, the successor of Google Nexus One. But according to speculation the launch of HTC made Nexus Two could not be materialized owning to some hardware failure problem.

And this was precisely the reason why Samsung launched world’s first ticker display smartphone, the Continuum. Now we have rumors yet again about another Nexus One successor, called by the name of Nexus S and this time the anticipations carry with them a ‘hands-on’ by Engadget and a leaked spec sheet by Phandroid.

The images of Samsung Nexus S, also called Nexus S GT-i9020T, grabbed by Engadget show one of the early prototypes of the device with Google and Samsung printed at the rear. The specification sheet that Phandroid managed to obtain from Best Buy’s internal product listing though offers a greater insight into the Samsung Nexus S features. According to the screen grab the device has a 5 MP camera with flash and will have a quad-band GSM support and tri-band HSUPDA support.

Nexus S will run on Google’s Android OS and we can very well assume it to be Gingerbread, Android latest offering (version 2.3). Nexus S will be Gingerbread’s flagship model. The device is packed with 1500 mAh battery, MP3 playback capabilities, and build-in GPS. The spec sheet also mentioned that service provider which is T-Mobile.

We do not have other details regarding the device but can expect it to come with a gorgeous 4-inch super AMOLED touch screen as the handset is from Samsung’s portfolio of Galaxy S devices. It may have HD video recording capabilities and the connectivity options might just include Bluetooth 3.0 and 802.11 n Wi-Fi.
