For all those who are eagerly waiting to lay their hands on Samsung’s latest tablet, the new Galaxy Tab, the wait is finally over. Apple iPad competitor Samsung Galaxy Tab will hit the shelves in India within a fortnight and that is exactly November 10 when the tablet is due for its official launch in the country.

Pre-order for the device has started on Flipkart and the Indian audience can buy their Tab at a price of Rs. 38,000 which makes it rather cheaper compared to the iPad whose price label is set between Rs. 40,000 and Rs. 42,000.

Samsung Galaxy Tab runs on Google’s Android v2.2 also called the ‘Froyo’ which will soon be updated to the most advanced version, the ‘Gingerbread.’ The device is Samsung’s first tablet that aims to bring PC-like experience to its users.

Powered by Cortex A8 1.0 GHz processor, the Tab has the latest Adobe Flash Player 10.1 and comes with a 7-inch AMOLED scratch proof gorilla screen. Galaxy Tab supports dual camera, one front-facing 1.3 MP camera for video telephony and another 3MP for still photography.

Samsung Galaxy Tab features an integrated 16GB memory which can be further expanded to up to 32 GB via microSD card. This 3G enabled tablet computer offers wireless connectivity on Wi-Fi 802.11n and Bluetooth 3.0. The other specification of the Tab includes Gyroscope sensor, Geo-magnetic sensor, Light Sensor and Accelerometer.

As the tablet is powered by Android platform, it supports various applications both from Android Market and Samsung Apps. The other apps that the device supports include Media Hub, Social Hub, Music Hub and Readers Hub.

The Tab supports large number of HD video content in a range of multimedia formats such as DivX, XviD, MPEG4, H.263 and H.264 and more. Users can also take videos and edit, upload and share images easily over the web.

The new tablet by Samsung definitely is a true iPad killer and gadget analysts find it even better than the iPad for some of its specifications such as its speed, front facing camera, scratch proof screen, 3G, portability, Wi-Fi and more. It is surely the true Android device with full access to the Android Marketplace.
