Reliance Infotel LTE ready tablet Price in India

Reliance owned Infotel is ready to launch LTE ready Android tablets at less than Rs.8000/- in India in the first quarter of next year. Reliance Infotel is a Mukesh Ambani owned company and is the only company with pan India license to launch BWA services. Reliance Infotel has decided to use LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology for its network already.


As far as the Infotel’s tablet’s cost is concerned it is considered to be about one fourth price of the high end tablets such as Samsung's Galaxy Tab, which costs Rs 35,000; or a third of the price of a medium range device like the Olivepad from Olive Communications, which sells at Rs 27,000.


The exact specification and features of the tablet is not known, however it is confirmed that it is sure to use LTE, or Long Term Evolution high speed broadband technology. Some Infotel's tablets are expected to run on Android OS and the cheapest one might use custom Java based operating systems.


Since India is considered as a laggard in broadband adoption is concerned therefore the Infotel's tablets are claimed to be the key to increase the mass market adoption of broadband. For which Reliance Infotel has already suggested 15 Taiwanese OEMs to bring sub-Rs 8000 tablets to India, as it will help in mass market adoption of this new technology before their launch next year.


The analyst also pointed out two major concern areas in Indian market namely, device cost and lack of content. Infotel tablet’s is hopeful to solve one of the problems showed by analysts. Infotel exclaimed in its presentations to the investors that it will also concentrate on creating an eco system to ensure quality content.
