As discussed by Nissan corporate communications team Nissan transplant the Renault Logan’s 1.5-liter CRDI engine into the Micra and should produce power in the region of 65-70bhp and torque of 160 Nm at 2000rpm, greatly improving the car’s driveability. Nissan also claims a mileage of 23 kmpl. The technical specification includes top speed of 155kmph with acceleration 15.9 seconds (0-100 kmph) and transmission- manual 5 speeds. The displacement is 1461 cc and power of 65 hp at 4000 rpm.
It was found that Nissan exported 3,866 Micra cars from its Oragadam factory near Chennai last month and its export target is 1.1 lakh units in the financial year 2011 to over 100 countries in Europe, Middle East and Africa and hence to achieve this target the company has to export roughly 7,500 cars per month, at the same time the company has to meet the domestic demands and deliver cars in time.
As commented by the Mr. Kiminobu Tokuyama, MD & CEO, Nissan Motor India, they felt very much confident in launching the diesel variant so early, after the success of its petrol variant, considering the fact that the diesel cars are gaining popularity in recent times n domestic market because o its fuel efficiency. The sales diesel cars are relatively high in the market than their petrol variant because of the low diesel prices in India and the new technology involved these days even though the cars cost much higher.
