Motorola Droid Pro competes with BlackBerry, pre order on Verizon at $180

Motorola announced its latest Android powered smartphone, the Droid Pro as the biggest competitor to BlackBerry’s corporate supremacy. The Motorola Droid Pro is available on Verizon Wireless and pre order has already been started.

The handset is available at $179.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a two year contract. It seems that Motorola custom built Droid Pro to woo the BlackBerry customers with a device that perfectly blends the corporate level security feature (BlackBerry’s most important selling point) with the amazing Android experience and reliable 3G connectivity offered by Verizon Wireless.

Motorola Droid Pro features a QWERTY keypad and is powered by Android version 2.2. The Droid has a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and comes with 2GB built-in storage. The handset also has Adobe Flash built into its Web browser and a 5MP camera with dual LED flash. It offers a 3.1-inch 320 x 480 resolution display that gives you sharper text and clearer web browsing experience.

One of the most important Motorola Droid Pro feature is its Microsoft Exchange compatibility which is just not limited to email but expands further to its ability to edit Microsoft Office documents, remote wipe capabilities, encryption, AuthenTec IPSec multihead VPN integration, rescheduling meetings and many more features for enhanced security promise. The phone also brings Quickoffice Mobile Suite and unified calendar.

The new Droid Pro by Motorola is a complete business mobile phone with corporate clients as its target. With features such as corporate security, Android power, 3G capabilities and amazing hardware, the handset is definitely going to give tough competition to RIM’s BlackBerry but we still have to see whether Motorola is able to make a shift in business customers’ preference from BlackBerry to Droid Pro.
