Lenovo LePad tablet launch at CES, features, specifications and price
Lenovo LePad tablet was launched at the Consumer Electronic Show 2011 in Las Vegas on Thursday. Experts believe that this year’s CES will be focused mainly around tablets and more tablets with a hope to give the iPad, the biggest and the most successful tablet ever, some competition. And to join the race Chinese computer colossus launched its tablet called LePad that serves the dual purpose of both a laptop for work and a touch screen tablet for leisure. Lenovo LePad features Android 2.2 OS by Google dubbed as LeOS.
The other features and specifications of Lenovo LePad include a 10.1-inch color screen and IdeaPad U1 China only. The tablet runs on 1.3GHz Snapdragon chip from Qualcomm. Users can enjoy the present day mobile lifestyle by seeing videos, enjoying music, playing games, surfing the internet and reading e-books on the tablet.
Lenovo Lepad is both a touch screen tablet and a laptop and supports 3G that enables users to get connected to the internet. Last year Lenovo launched IdeaPad at the CES and won praises for the Hybrid tablet laptop. Now Lenovo this year has moved one step ahead by offering the IdeaPad U1 hybrid with an added LePad Slate tablet that makes it a complete laptop.
Lenovo LePad also has plans to add Flash Player 10.1 meaning there is no default Flash support.
Another features that comes with Lenovo LePad is its Keypad Dock bundle similar to the one offered by Apple iPad. Once you put the LePad Slate to the U1 base, it boots into Windows 7 Home Premium OS. As the tablet cum laptop operates on Android, the device comes pre-loaded with several apps and gets support from Android Market.
Lenovo LePad features a front-facing camera for video calling and just weight less than two pounds. In China the LePad will come with IdeaPad U1and will be available in the market in March. In the US the LePad will not be made available until it gets upgraded to the next version of Android OS offered by Google for tablets.
