IPL RCB Vs RR had a day of a Hat trick by Praveen Kumar
by admin infocera    2010-03-18
It was RCB bowler Praveen Kumar’s day in the DLF IPL T 20 match between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore on Thursday.  The bowler was at his best and took his hat trick in the 17th over.

RCB bowler Praveen Kumar first had Damien Martyn bowled for 19, followed by Sumit Narwal who was caught at fine leg and then he was looking forward to make his hat trick with the wicket of Paras Dogra bowled for 3 and the packed stadium just went crazy.

The RCB players lifted their star bowler with joy and the stands were thrilled. The proud captain Kumble and his team of power packed bowlers had wrapped the Rajasthan Royals (RR)
at 92. Their innings was hardly exciting under the tight grip of RCB. The team lost early three wickets at just 38 runs.

The hat trick by Praveen for RCB was the first in season 3 IPL and 7th in the entire IPL series. Though Yusuf Pathan tried to save the innings for RR with his couple of sixes but could not keep the score card ringing for long. The innings reached its high point with the partnership of Pathan and Martyn with a 37 run partnership.

RCB failed on two occasions to dismiss Yusuf Pathan, first it was Rahul Dravid whose sprint could not get that catch while the batsman was on 19 and second it was Vinay who also could not show him the route to the dressing room dropping his catch when he was playing at 24. Eventually the wicket of Pathan went to the kitty of Vinay Kumar when the batsman was run out at 26. The score card had a sad face and the team could not last 20 overs.

The target was small to chase and the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RR) opener Kallis and Manish Pandey began their trail from the very first ball when Kallis hit a four. The score was chased in just 11th over. It was a facile ten wicket victory was Challengers in the DLF IPL match.

This was Rajasthan Royal’s (RR) third consecutive defeat this season. Captain Kumble had opted to field winning the toss. Openers Naman Ojha and Micheal Lumb got dismissed at the hands of Kallis and skipper Kumble.

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RR) score card had M. Pandey not out 42 and J. Kallis not out for 44. Rajasthan Royal’s had Ojha c Uthappa bowled Kallis 16, M. Lumb st. Boucher b Kumble 10, D. Martyn b Praveen, A. Jhunjhunwala b Kallis, Yusuf run out 26, P. Dogra b Praveen 3, S.Narwal c Pandey b Praveen 0, S. Warne b Kumble 4, M. Morkel st. Boucher b Kumble 2, M .Patel run out 0 and S. Trivedi not out.
