Hyundai Santa Fe gets overwhelming response, rival SUVs need a close watch
Hyundai Motors got overwhelming response to its newly unveiled luxury SUV in India. The new Santa Fe seems to have clicked with the SUV lovers in the country and got 535 bookings in just 15 days from 18th October when the booking started till its close which was on 31st October.
With such a great response Hyundai aims to make it big at the Sports Utility segment in the country. Santa Fe, an already popular vehicle in the west is pitted against some of the top SUVs in the country including Skoda Yeti, Ford Endeavor, Mitsubishi Outlander, Toyota Fortuner, Nissan Munaro and X Trail and Chevrolet Captiva.
South Korean automobile maker Hyundai Motors launched Santa Fe in 2 WD and 4WD options. Hyundai Santa Fe price is Rs. 20.95 lac for the 2 wheel drive and Rs. 22.95 lac for the 4 wheel drive option. The company aims to sell 500-600 units per month in India but looking at the great response the automobile got here, it seems that the sales target will stretch further. The Santa Fe will come as a CBU in India initially from Hyundai’s Koran facility.
Hyundai Santa Fe features a 2.2 L CDRi engine that generates 197 ps/4000 rpm with an amazing torque of 422 NM between 1,800 and 2,500 rpm. The vehicle has a maximum speed of 190 km/h and has 6-speed manual transmission and accelerates from 0-60 in 9.5 seconds. Hyundai Santa Fe mileage as per ARAI certification is 14.66 km/l. The car offers improved fuel efficiency at 35.6 mpg thanks to the low-resistance tyres and latest alternator management system introduced for the first time in the SUV by Hyundai.
The robust Hyundai Santa Fe is a showstopper SUV with its revamped front grille, latest head, fog and tail lights, 17-inch 5-spoke alloy and new chrome door handles. The interior of this 7-seater includes parking sensors, smart key, navigation system, large LCD screen and leather wrapped steering wheel. The safety features of the car include 2 airbags, parking sensors, EBD, ABS, traction control and rear seat belts. It also has electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes.
