Hyundai Avante price in India

Hyundai, the South Korean auto maker will launch its new sedan, Hyundai Avante in India in December 2010. Avante is Hyundai’s next big launch after the i20 CDRi. The new car will launch in 1.6L petrol and diesel engine.

But sources close to Hyundai also revealed that a 1.4L petrol engine could also be fitted in the new sedan, this is the same engine that powers the i20. Hyundai has not officially declared the price of Avante, but anticipations are high that the vehicle will come with a price tag of Rs. 11 lac in the country.

Hyundai Avante, which replaces the Elantra whose production was stopped last year by the automaker, will feature 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. The petrol version will be powered by 1591cc DOHC CVVT engine which generates maximum power of 118 bhp at 6200 rpm with maximum torque 156 Nm at 4200 rpm.  The diesel version will be powered by 1582 cc CDRi engine which is capable of generating maximum power of 115 bhp at 400 rpm with maximum torque of 260 Nm at 1900 rpm.

Avante is Elantra with a facelift and that the vehicle carries contemporary sedan-like looks with chiseled looking bumper. Its rear is inspired by Corolla’s chunky bumper and tail light. The side of the car has small crease like running along the sync. The interior of Avante is comfortable and offers plush features just like that of a luxury sedan.

The 5-seater includes luxury features like AC with climate control, power windows, remote central locking and a sleek dashboard. The other features are its comfortable seating capacity, remote fuel filler, rear defogger, instrument panel with soothing blue-black lighting. The car has electric driver seat adjustment, tinted glass, button control on steering and MP3 player.

The safety features of Avante include two airbags, fog lamp, anti-braking system, parking sensors, traction control, EBD and ESP.

The Avante by Hyundai will be pitted against the other sedans in the segment including Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Chevrolet Optra and Skoda Octavia. What remains to be seen here is whether Avante will be able to make a mark in the luxury sedan segment of the Indian automobile market especially after the huge failure of Elantra, Hyundai’s outgoing luxury sedan.

The automaker has offered improvements in the Elantra in terms of facelift and other features and developed Avante with the aim to occupy a considerable market share in the segment.
