HTC Aria: Android 2.1 featured with 5MP camera at a price of USD 230

HTC Aria Price in India

HTC Aria running Android 2.1 is going to be launched at the US markets and the US technology lovers are giving it up for finding the details about the device. The device seems to be a close relative of the HTC HD mini with the body make, screen size, camera and connectivity all resembling the latter. However there is one big difference and that is the OS the HTC Aria will run on the Android 2.1 OS unlike the HTC HD mini.

HTC Aria phone supports the accelerometer sensor for auto rotate of the UI and the Proximity sensor for the auto switch off. The phone has only one camera on the backside and hence does not support the video calling feature. The screen size is 3.2’’ and has a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels.

The phone weighs about 107 grams and has dimensions of 104.1 x 58.4 x 11.7 mm very slim in comparison to the other phones that HTC manufactures. The phone comes with an optical track pad and the Sense UI a revolutionary interface from HTC.<

The camera on the backside of the HTC Aria phone is of 5 megapixels and supports auto focus, face detection and Geo- tagging features. The processor of the phone is the Qualcomm MSM 7227 600 MHz processor that when coupled with the Android OS gives excellent feature speeds in the applications. The phone supports GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 on a 2G Network and HSDPA 850 / 1900 on a 3G Network.

The browser though is a simple HTML one and does not have any of the features supported by other phones in this range. The phone support 802.11b/g kits for the WIFI and not the 802.11n kit as done by most of its counterparts.

The software supported by the HTC Aria phone includes a host of third party apps, dedicated search key, Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube and Google Talk along with Picasa integration. The phone comes with a 2 GB card packed along with and a memory card slot expandable upto 8 GB via micro SD. The phone supports the standard Li-ion battery that gives a battery life of up to 372 hours in standby and talk time of 6hrs.

These features coupled with the price of about $230 (130 after a mail in rebate) that is with a one year AT&T subscription make it a power packed phone in the US. Let’s hope we see a version of the phone across the Atlantic in the coming months!!
