HP slate 500 Table PC for commercial users, retail users to wait
After much publicity and leaks, finally HP Slate 500 Table PC has hit the market officially all across US. The new slate comes with limited surprises and limited options. HP Slate 500 Table PC current launch is targeted for commercial users like corporates and professionals. Retail users need to wait till next year. Incidentally, acquiring Palm Inc by HP has not given any additions to the slate. Hopefully the next year version may get Palm OS. The success of this tablet next year will also indicate the synergy benefits of HP and Palm.
Well coming back to the latest HP Slate 500 Table PC, it was already leaked through images and also showcased in CES 2010. Presence of Steve Balmer in the event had given enough indications of some features from Microsoft. So, the HP Slate is powered with Windows 7 instead of Palm OS. Despite many leaked images, still its not much clear on points where it will have edge over rival Apple iPad. As Apple iPad is first entrant in iPad segment, its going to be tough for HP slate 500 to make its mark.
HP Slate 500 Table PC at $ 799 (inputs from CNET site) is available online at HP website and its channel partners. The slate can be bought in full package which include stand, carry case etc. The next year version of slate which will be having Palm OS can be expected at lower price.
Coming to the features of HP Slate 500 Table PC, 8.9" screen (1,024x600 display, VGA webcam, bright finishing, camera on front and rear end, pre installed windows software are worth noticing. Its powered with 1.86GHz Intel processor, 2GB of RAM and 64GB SSD hard drive.
