Fiat 500 new Twin Air falls under the extensive range of petrol models
Fiat 500 Twin Air is the latest model which has been introduced in India. The Fiat Company already has a strong range of MultiJet diesel and new MultiAir petrol engines. The TwinAir is observed in a way just like the petrol engines are designed and developed. It is very cleverly designed in two-cylinder 875cc.
Fiat 500 TwinAir is said to be the cleanest petrol engine in the world though it still has a characteristic which makes it very delightful under the feet. Its 85bhp output gives a capacity four-cylinder units or even larger than that. Fiat has invested £300 Million in TwinAir development. The technology adapted by the Fiat 500 will become the goal of future models to be made under his concept.
The new car Fiat 500 is the modern successor to the two cylinder, 13bhp, 475cc car which was made in the year of 1957. It brings a new level of low emissions and is economical to the city driven car sector. Fiat has a rough calculation that 20 per cent of future 500 sales which is over 4,000 annually will be the TwinAir versions. The weight of the engine is 85kg and emits 95gkm of CO2, which is the least that a petrol engine can discharge.
The Fiat 500 1.2 petrol model is 23 per cent more powerful, cuts emissions and fuel consumption by 15 per cent. This feature puts ahead of its rivals like Toyota, Ford and Smart which are more costly than Fiat 500 TwinAir.
Twin Air uses electro-hydraulic valve management, a conventional throttle valve, which varies from cylinder to cylinder. Owners have to choose between a five-speed manual gearbox or a Dualogic robotised manual which comes with a sequential automatic function. The Fiat 500 TwinAir can go from 0-62mph in 11 seconds and onto a maximum 108mph.
The overall fuel consumption is about 70mpg for either manual or Dualogic versions. Drivers have a choice of Normal or Eco driving modes With the new TwinAir models Fiat 500 cars can be ordered in a new light blue Volare colour also.
