BSNL launches 3G services in Manipur

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has launched its 3G services in Manipur, North Eastern Indian state. The 3G services were started by Chief General Manager of BSNL North East-II Circle Ranjan Sanyal in Imphal, the state capital. BSNL has launched 3G services in s Elected areas of Imphal and would soon be extending to other districts of Manipur in near future.

The BSNL prepaid customers in Manipur can migrate to 3G services by paying subscription charges of Rs. 179. The postpaid customers of 2G can migrate to 3G service platform by submitting application for new services.

Under 3G mobile platform, customers will be charged Rs. 1 for video STD call and 70 paise per local

video calls. 3G services provides customers high speed internet, high speed data transfer, video call facility etc.

Some of the areas covered by BSNL 3G services in Imphal city are Lamphel Exchange, Tera Bazar, orompat, Lamlong Bazar, Chingmeirong, Koirengei, Thangmeiband, Langjing, Kwakeithel, Singjamei Bazar, Manipur University, Kongba Bazar, etc. The BSNL 3G services will be also started in Imphal East and West, Bishnupur, Thoubal and Churachandpur districts shortly.

The growth of mobile services in Manipur is plugged by power supply problem. Still BSNL is planning to laucnh WI-MAX services to rural areas soon.
