Audi Q7 new variant, SUV to launch with more powerful engine in Jan 2011

Audi Q7, the German automaker’s high performance SUV now comes with more power and greater efficiency. The luxury car maker gears to launch its latest variant of Q7, the successful SUV that is seen as the main contributors of Audi’s success in the Indian market in January 2011.


Audi Q7 now demonstrates a 3.0 L TFSI engine mated with 8-speed automatic transmission that delivers 33 HP and reaches maximum torque of 440 Nm between 2,900 and 5,300 rpm. The V6 with an engine displacement of 2,995 cc of the Audi Q7 new variant has a top speed of 245 km/h and accelerates to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds.


According to the official press release Micheal Perschke, Head, Audi India, the new Audi Q7 reflects the core essence of brand DNA , ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’ and has a new engine, new transmission and a whole series of new performance characteristics that reduces fuel consumption and emissions and minimizes jumps in engine speed between gears.


Audi is confident that the new variant will further help the automaker consolidate leadership position in the luxury SUV space. Audi Q7 price is Rs. 59.29 L (ex-showroom price) and the new variant begins sale by January 2011.


Audi Q7 features the TFSI technology for the first time and combines supercharging of the engine with petrol direct injection. The Q7 range is also powered by a highly efficient diesel engine and is available in 4.2 TDI that makes it India’s most powerful diesel SUV. Audi currently offers two diesel variants of Q7 including the 3.0 L and 4.2 L engine options. The company would also ramp up production by 50% at its Aurangabad facility to about 3000 units next year.


The Audi model range in India includes Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi A8, Audi Q5, Audi Q7, Audi TT and the super sports car Audi R8. The company also has plans to launch Audi luxury A7 sedan in the country and is considering initiating the market study for the same.
